Year 11 Work Experience 2017
The Year 11’s have enjoyed a wide and varied range of experiences in this year’s work experience programme.
We visited the Air Ambulance Base in Thruxton and met the Critical Care team and pilots who talked us through the helicopter and the various elements of their jobs. We were also lucky enough to experience their simulation suite which is a new training resource to train new critical care paramedics and doctors.
We then visited the Saints Training Ground in Marchwood and found out about all the jobs necessary to support a football team and their work. At the Aegeas Rose Bowl we found out all about the jobs that take place there to support national and international events.
At the Watercress Line we discovered all about volunteering and the jobs that are undertaken to keep history alive and to pass on engineering skills from the past. We crossed a famous bridge over the tracks and walked in Harry Potter’s footsteps and got to see and experience a steam train filling up with water and then making us all jump by steaming at close quarters. In amongst all of this the Year 11’s also created products for sale at our Summer Fayre and helped produce decorations for their Prom. A huge thank you to all the interesting and stimulating places we visited and the huge number of people who made time for us to tell us all about their world of work.
