Governors Blog – The Memorial Garden
One of the main roles of a governor is to monitor the school development plan. This year one of the objectives has been to re-energize the Memorial Garden.
The weather has not been kind to this project over the year; heavy rain, frozen ground, snow and then searing heat! However, the hard work of the grounds men has paid off and the Memorial Garden is looking as it should.
The wooden structure surrounding the tree and mosaic had to be removed as it sadly had rotted and was unsafe. Then there was a lengthy time of discussion on what would replace it including what would be aesthetically pleasing and keeping within the budget restraints. Ideas ranging from metal fencing to hedging. However the existing benches together with a little rejuvenation of the edging, steps and mosaic has proven to be all that was required.
The flower beds surrounding the Memorial Garden have been extended and completely replanted to set off whole area beautifully. I wholly recommend a visit to the Memorial Garden and to spend just a little time sitting in this tranquil and suitable reflective space.
