Parking at Osborne School
I am proud that Osborne School is continuing to thrive however the increasing pupil numbers brings with it certain challenges, one of which is the issue of parking on the school site.
As I am sure you are all aware, the site has always struggled with parking spaces on busy days and with more staff needed to support more pupils the problem has become even greater.
We now have in excess of 30 taxis and minibuses transporting pupils at the start and end of the day, and this does not include those collected by parents. We have therefore made the difficult, but very necessary, decision to restrict access to the site for parents in their own cars at busy times of the day. Parents and Carers will not be permitted to drive onto the site between the hours of 8.30am and 9.15am and 2.45pm and 3.30pm, unless prepared to join the queue of buses and taxis. I appreciate that this may initially prove inconvenient for some of you but there is a public car park nearby and we are currently liaising with other venues to see if they would be willing to allow short term parking for our parents and carers.
If you need to drop off or collect your child, in between the above times, then you will be able to use the bays around the front of the school.
If you are attending a meeting or have an appointment in school, as long as it is either side of the above times, you may use any available parking bay or the drop off zone. If the site is full you will, unfortunately, have to park elsewhere.
I am sure you can appreciate the Health and Safety, and Safeguarding, aspects of this situation, and I hope that you will work with us to alleviate the problems.
If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate in contacting the school.
Yours sincerely
