Headteacher’s Comment – March 2019
I have now received the outcome of the Short Section 8 Ofsted Inspection that took place on the 7th of February. I am delighted to inform you that the school not only continues to be Good, but ‘demonstrates strong practice and marked improvement in specific areas’ which indicates it could become outstanding if it received a full inspection. The inspector has therefore recommended a Full Section 5 Inspection.
I enclose a copy of the outcome report for your information:
I would like to share below some of the key points of which we are most proud:
• Your ambition and determination for pupils to be successful has ensured that you have not only maintained the many strengths of provision, but also built upon them rapidly all staff work together to ensure that every pupil receives the high quality academic education and personal development needed for them to fulfil their potential.
• Pupils make excellent progress personally and academically. Leaders expect many of their pupils to make the same rates of progress as pupils in other mainstream schools. This is a reflection of their high aspirations.
• Your commitment to mental health for staff and pupils is having a positive impact on the school community Mental Health is embedded within the pupils’ personal targets, so that well-being permeates school life.
The Section 5 inspection is likely to be carried out within the next 12 months and we have a few small action points to work on in preparation for this.
I hope you will agree that the school has done exceptionally well and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the support you give to the school.
I am sure you will join me in congratulating the staff and pupils for all their hard work in achieving this result.
Sonia White (O’ Donnell), Headteacher
