Google Classroom launch – Monday 22nd of February
As of Monday the 22nd of February teachers will be using Google Classroom to set and monitor remote learning, replacing our current system of emailing work home.
Google Classroom is a free web-based platform that makes it easy for teachers to distribute tasks and assignments. It will eventually lead to better communication and allows teachers to have resources for your young person all in one place.
Each parent/guardian will receive on Wednesday the 10th of February a login email address and password for their young person to access the Google Classroom. The email address will only be used for your young person’s Google Classroom account. On Wednesday you’ll be sent a link to your young person’s classroom and they will be ready to use it!
Google Classroom has an app for both Android and iOS (Apple) that you can download to your smartphone or tablet. You can also login to google classroom from a laptop or desktop computer.
We are aware that some people find technology daunting and change can sometimes be difficult. I have put a ‘What is Google Classroom?’ video onto the school website today for everyone to see the benefits of switching from emailing the work to using this new way of remote learning.
There will be ‘how to’ guides on our website from Wednesday, two drop-in zoom sessions for parents/pupils next half-term and any questions can be directed at me to help you transition to using this platform. My email address is b.dlugokecki@osborne.hants.sch.uk
For now, if you have time please watch the video to make yourself aware of Google Classroom and how it will benefit our pupils.
Many Thanks,
Ben Dlugokecki, Head of Computing
