Message from the Headteacher – Main School to remain closed tomorrow (Friday 5th November)

Dear Parents and Carers

Firstly, please may I thank you for your support this morning on the very short notice of having to close the school.

The heating in school has not been working since Monday, however, by using portable heaters and retaining heat in the building we were able to continue to stay open.

Unfortunately, on arrival at school this morning, and despite engineers being on site all week, I was informed that the situation had reached a critical level and it was not safe to keep any part of the main school system running, which included the gas to heat water and the use of gas for any cooking. Consequently, for health and safety reasons, it is not safe for me to keep the whole school open.

We have had an emergency meeting with the LA, and the engineers who are dealing with the situation, and we are hoping to have a temporary measure to fix the issue by Monday morning. This unfortunately means the main school will remain closed tomorrow, Friday 5 November.

Due to Osborne College running on a different heating system we are able to keep this provision open and with OsKings’ being in a separate location they will also run as normal.

All pupils who attend the main school site will receive online and home learning during the closure. Details will be provided by your child’s class teacher.

Thank you for your co-operation and I do apologise for the inconvenience caused.  I will continue to keep you updated, as and when I get information, and please do continue to check the school website, your emails, and HCC school closures list for updates on the status of the school.

Yours sincerely

Sonia White, Headteacher
