On Friday March 25th two Osborne football teams travelled to Stoneham Lane to play 2 matches against Great Oaks School of Southampton.
The Blue team started well with great possession of the ball and great team play, however Great Oaks struck first with a fine shot from their number 9, swiftly followed by a couple more. Osborne did however finish the half of well with some fine saves from Adam Smeal in goal. After a quick break the game resumed with Great oaks on top again, however Osborne’s defence now boosted by the addition of Michael Kruger and Archie Brooks stood firm despite constant attacks. The restructuring did however leave Hansel Maromo up front on his own, however this did stop Osborne’s answer to Harry Kane as with the final shot of the match Hansel curled in a shot from outside the box which nearly burst through the net. The game finished with Great Oaks winning however Osborne gave a great account of themselves.
The Black team mostly consisting of Oskings’ students with a few valuable additions from Osborne, played against Greats Oak’s Key Stage 4 team. The match was a tight affair with both teams attacking well, however both failed to find the back of the net in the first half.
The second half stated with both teams looking for the games opening goal, Claire Powell made a number of changes to the team with Alex H and Alex T coming off the bench. Both players had played parts in the first half but they made a noticeable addition to the team coming off the each once more, both linking well with Finlay W. Oscar Galpin then played a hopeful ball forward which Alex T took down with a delicate touch, he then weaved through 3 Great Oak’s players to bury the ball in the back of the next. The game finished 1-0 to Osborne, both teams made every effort to win, with both defenses bossing most of the game.
