Challenge Bazza Concludes

On Sunday, the last of the Challenge Bazza series of events took place. Barry Barnett, one of our LSA’s and former Chair of FoS, has been taking on various challenges over the last 14 months. These include walking 50 laps of the school field, cycling the Meon Valley Trail, and walking from Ryde to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight, a staggering 21 miles!! Plus many more challenges. He has been helped along the way by various members of Osborne Staff.

The final challenge happened last Sunday when Barry and 6 other staff members took on the Great South Run, a 10 mile run around the streets of Portsmouth. Training hadn’t gone quite to plan but, he still managed to get round the 10 miles in 2hrs 23m 8s. A creditable time. In this time Barry has lost over 7st in weight and raised £3760 for Friends of Osborne School. This money will go towards a new minibus for the school and to develop the outside area of Osborne College. Barry’s target is £5000 so still a way to go. On 26th October there will be a 12 hour non stop radio show presented by Barry on Fiesta FM (Home – Fiesta 95 FM (fiestafm.co.uk), one of the radio stations he works at. This will be a celebration of all things Challenge Bazza with special guests and live music. Feel free to join in by sending in messages for Barry and he will read them out on air. Send them to b.barnett@osborne.hants.sch.uk. Then tune in 9am-9pm on the Wednesday of half term. http://www.fiestafm.co.uk or 95fm in the Southampton area.

Well done Barry! Your commitment to fundraising for FOS has been commendable and an inspiration to many!
