Army Visit – Problem Solving & Team Building Task Day

On Wednesday 7th March, we had our regular visit from the Army School of Education, Worthy Down Barracks, to deliver their Problem Solving and Team Building Task Day. All of the soldiers that participated on the day are part of the Potential Officer Development Programme (PODP), working towards becoming senior officers in the Army and being assessed at The Sandhurst Academy. The Army use the day to take the Potential Officers out of their comfort zone and to look at their leadership and communication skills in unfamiliar situations.

The Army group were led by PO Smith, PO Wood and PO Parsons, who had planned the day. They put on a number of different activities, which involved solving problems, working as a team and communication. They had also put up a sensory tent, which had smells and light sticks, as well as an education stand, which showed the pupils ration packs and Army clothing/kit. All classes across school took part in the day and the different activities.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable day for the soldiers, pupils and staff who took part. The Army Days have become part of our yearly curriculum now and they have a real positive impact on all parties involved.

We would like to thank all of the Potential Officers who helped run the day and wish them well in their development phase to becoming Officers within the Army.
